Birthday.

Posted on 4th March, 2008

I just want to apologise for the lack of updates on CSSHive. I have been away for a few days from Friday through till Today. The reason behind me going away was it was my birthday yesterday and I spent it with family and friends.

Expect the site submissions to be picking up regular pace again from tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and submitted sites to us.

News update.

Posted on 28th February, 2008

Just posting a news update to let you all know what is going on at csshive.com. We are about 90% done on the site edits now. When we took over the site from the previous owner there was an error with the WordPress coding. We wanted to implement the latest blog post to the main page. It was just not possible.

We decided to change some of the design aspects too. We moved the rating below the gallery posts as we felt it was not working on the side. We felt that the yellow drew too much contrast in that position so it had to be moved. Also we added a subscribe area that was not here before. We moved the archives, categories and subscribe area above the advertisements.

We have also added a lightbox to the main gallery page and all posts from now on will have this feature.

As some of you may have noticed we have toyed with the idea of adding design reviews to the gallery posts. However this has not gone down well with some people. We have decided to change this to a review of what the site submitted is and offers its customers. We are in the middle of changing a section on the submit a site area to help us with this reviews.

Lastly we will be redesigning the logo as we feel that the logo is not working. If you know any good designers please post in the comments section on this post or get in contact.

CSS Hive, first bunch of errors.

Posted on 23rd January, 2008

It came to our attention earlier this evening when we had not been receiving any submissions at all since yesterday. Which was rather strange to just suddenly happen. So just to let you all know, that the issue has all been fixed and we’re sorry for any inconvenience.

We could only ask you kindly to re-submit if it failed yesterday onwards.

Thanks, CSSHive team.

Advertising and Submission Information

Posted on 21st January, 2008

A lot of people have been emailing asking about statistics on CSS Hive. Well this is just a notice that there have been over 120 submissions, and over 6000 unique visitors to CSS Hive, and we are only 21 days old.

We would like to thank everyone who has visited, submitted their website and still continue to come back. CSS Hive has grown very well over the past few weeks, and we hope to continues to do so.

On a side-note, can everyone who submits their website please make sure it is validated to W3C Standards. Your website may look nice, but underneath is what counts as well. For example, it’s like walking towards a shop. This shop looks amazing on the outside, but as you walk in, you suddenly close your eye’s and hold your breathe because of the ugliness and smell. And that is what impression we get from bad design and bad code. Validate your website today!

CSS Hive Site Of The Day

Posted on 14th January, 2008

We have successfully launched the new feature to CSSHive. Site Of The Day will be updated at a specific time each day which will be selected on a count of general design, web standards and rating and comments is also going to come into play.

As CSS Hive is new and there aren’t many comments yet, don’t hesitate to add them and get your website featured for a full 24 hours until the next selection.

So what are you waiting for, get commenting and get rating. Who knows, your site could be next!

Also we would love to hear your thoughts about this new feature that we have introduced.

Moved servers.

Posted on 2nd January, 2008

We have moved the site over onto a new server which had a downtime of approximately 4 hours. Sorry for that, but due to some comments we were getting we decided to move. The previous host was sometimes slow, sometimes not so slow.

So fingers crossed, we should be up for good now.
